Enabling investors of SEA, VentureCon happens in association with the Singapore Week of Innovation & Technology (SWITCH) on September 20.
Investors play an integral role in the startup ecosystem. They are, after all, the lifeblood of entrepreneurs; the very people who help bring new technologies to light, and channel their resources to support and further innovation.
In Southeast Asia, for example, funding into the technology sector has experienced four consecutive years of strong, positive growth, with a staggering 58 per cent compounded annual growth rate since 2013. In 2016, funding has reached over US$2 billion with a median deal size of US$1 million, and an active investors count of 110.
As competition increases globally, investors will need to understand how to navigate the constantly changing SEA business landscape, and be aware of the many opportunities that they can capitalise in the region.
This September, e27 is proud to be partnering with SGInnovate to bring you VentureCon at SWITCH (Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology) 2017.
Themed, “Founding a New World”, SWITCH is back in its second year with 8 conferencesand close to 300 booths as it brings together innovators and influencers around the globe. The event focusses on current and future technologies like the reprogramming of bodies with biotech, artificial intelligence’s impact on creativity, as well as developments in space technology, autonomous vehicles, clean energy, and robotics.
VentureCon is Asia’s premier conference and networking platform for investors and key stakeholders in the region’s tech funding ecosystem. The event brings together angel investors, venture capitalists, private equity firms, governments, and corporate VCs to exchange insights, foster connections, facilitate deal flow, and pursue fundraising opportunities.
Attendees will have access to curated insights and data from active stakeholders in Asia’s funding ecosystem, as well as the chance to forge strategic partnerships across market and verticals.
Featuring discussions led by experienced VC partners, VentureCon aims to bring co-investment opportunities and investor synergies to its attendees.
VentureCon features lunch presentations from four early-stage VCs, as they share insights from their current investments and portfolio and discuss their perspectives on the investment trends in Southeast Asia. These presentations from Wavemaker Partners’ Paul Santos, 500 Startups’ Vishal Harnal, Golden Gate Ventures’ Michael Lints, and CyberAgent Venture China’s Nobuaki Kitagawa, will cover fund theses and strategy, portfolio insights, and investor perspectives.
Discussions following the presentations will cover accessing the market, with Chua Kee Lock of Vertex Ventures presenting data and insights for investing on Southeast Asia, Donald Wihardja of Convergence Ventures on Indonesia, and Melissa Guzy of Arbor Ventures on Southeast Asia and East Asia.
