Former Ogilvy Malaysia CEO David Mayo (pictured) has joined GetCraft as chief growth officer and will launch the Singapore office in a few weeks. He has also taken an equity stake in the company.
Mayohis role as Ogilvy Malaysia CEO and country head last August, slightly more than a year after he the role in January 2017, replacing John Deschner.
In a statement to A+M, Mayo said it decided to expand into Singapore because it needed a regional office and clients also requested for it to be in the market. According to him, the team will comprise approximately 30 individuals with expertise in digital media, marketing and film content.
GetCraft also looks to expand into Vietnam, Thailand, Latin America and India. When asked about its business acquisition strategy in Singapore, Mayo said it will target clients locally and worldwide.
“We have people coming onto our platform from all over the world. It is an incredibly busy marketplace. We want to be the champion of creative people and give them a second place, and both clients and brands have credibility on our price and quality. The key words are better, faster and cheaper,” Mayo added.
Established in 2015, GetCraft is a Jakarta-based creative vendor technology platform with offices across Southeast Asia and over 10,600 creative vendors from around the region. The appointment comes as it looks to scale its model across Asia and beyond. GetCraft connects brands directly to creative outcomes and premium content with access to creatives in all key creation categories from influencers to content to art and copy. Among the list of clients it has worked with include Unilever, Nestle, P&G, Coca-Cola and L’Oreal.
Co-founder Patrick Searle said over time, Mayo has proved invaluable in helping to build out its strategy and its offer for the future.
